A Stroll Around Leonardville and Tour the Meyers House

Join historian Dennis Evanosky for a visit to Leonardville. We’ll take a close look at Joseph Leonard’s first creations on Chestnut Street. Then we’ll visit where trains and Big Reds once stopped at a station Leonard designed. Along the way we’ll see 15 of Joseph Leonard’s works, and what stands in place of Joseph and Annie Leonard’s first home. Dennis will explain the Queen Anne style and we’ll have some fun looking for spindles and spandrels, see if we can spot any turrets and towers, and look for Queen Anne’s signature shingles. **THE MEYERS HOUSE** This 1897 Colonial Revival home was designed by architect Henry H. Meyers for his family. The estate includes the carriage house, an architecture studio, and the three-car garage featuring an architectural exhibit. **11am – 12pm:** Walk nearby Leonardville with Dennis Evanosky. **12pm – 1pm:** Bring a picnic to enjoy in the Meyers House Garden or grab a bite to eat at nearby Chestnut Station. **Food is not provided at the Meyers House.** **1pm:** The Meyers House and estate buildings open for touring. **Start the home tour by 3pm.** *Proceeds help maintain the Meyers House & Garden as a historic site open to the public.*
