Paint a Chinese Folding Fan: Plum Blossom Edition

Celebrate the timeless beauty of Chinese art by creating your own hand-painted folding fan inspired by elegant plum blossoms. In this relaxing, beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn basic techniques of traditional Chinese brush painting while exploring the cultural symbolism of the plum blossom—one of the “Four Gentlemen” in Chinese art, representing resilience, hope, and renewal. With step-by-step guidance, everyone will paint graceful plum blossoms on a beautiful folding fan and take home a unique, functional artwork to enjoy year-round. No previous painting experience is required. All materials are provided. This is a ticketed event. Tickets will be distributed at the Reference Desk 15 minutes before the event. Space and supplies are limited. Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded. We will always respect your requests! An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or closed captioning can be provided for this program if requested at least seven (7) days in advance.
