When do Bay Area pumpkin patches open in 2026?
The 2026 season is unusually front-loaded. Farmer John's in Half Moon Bay opened September 4 and Lemos Farm September 5; Spina Farms opened September 17 and Westbrae Nursery in Berkeley on the 18th; then the big wave lands Friday, September 25 — Petaluma, Nicasio Valley, Queen's, Alameda Point and Webb Ranch — with Smith Family Farm on September 26. Clancy's and G&M Farms wait until October 2, and Ardenwood's patch runs October weekends from the 3rd, with its Harvest Festival on October 10–11. Most close on Halloween or November 1; Lemos runs weekends to November 15. Arata, Pastorino and Piedmont Avenue still hadn't posted 2026 dates as of late September.
Which Bay Area pumpkin patches are free?
Fully free admission: the Highway 92 farm stands in Half Moon Bay (Farmer John's, Pastorino Farms), Clancy's in San Francisco, Westbrae Nursery in Berkeley, Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, and Nicasio Valley in Marin — you only pay for the pumpkins. The big farm patches at Spina, Arata, G&M and Petaluma are also free to enter, with pay-per-attraction tickets for rides and mazes (though Spina charges $30 to park on weekends). Lemos Farm is the exception among the famous names: it sells timed-entry passes from $12.99.
Are Bay Area pumpkin patches dog friendly?
Mostly no — working farms with animals on site typically restrict dogs. Lemos, G&M Farms, Webb Ranch, Petaluma Pumpkin Patch, Smith Family Farm and Ardenwood all say no dogs, and Spina and Nicasio Valley allow service animals only. The two exceptions are Clancy's in San Francisco, which welcomes well-behaved leashed dogs, and Arata in Half Moon Bay, whose FAQ says the same.
Which pumpkin patches have corn mazes?
The Petaluma Pumpkin Patch runs the region's biggest — a 4-acre corn maze that becomes a flashlight night maze on fall weekends. G&M Farms in Livermore, Spina Farms in Coyote Valley, Smith Family Farm in Brentwood and Queen's in Saratoga also run corn mazes, and Arata in Half Moon Bay has the famous alternative: the Minotaur's Labyrinth, a genuinely hard 2-acre hay-bale maze redesigned every year.
Is it better to go on a weekday or weekend?
Weekdays in October are far quieter and often cheaper: Spina's $30 parking fee applies only Friday to Sunday, Webb Ranch charges $16.95 for a child on a weekday versus $39.95 on a weekend, and Smith Family Farm is a dollar less. Weekends bring the full experience — all attractions running, night mazes at Petaluma and G&M, food vendors, and peak-season crowds, especially the two weekends before Halloween.
