Get inspired by the artist, Pablo Picasso, and create wacky portraits of your own! — Get into the art-making spirit in October at Open Studio! Each week we’ll get inspired by a different artwork on view from artists such as Aliza Nisenbaum, Pablo Picasso, Joan Mitchell, and more! Join us this week as we get inspired by Pablo Picasso’s artwork, Woman in a Hat (Marie-Thérèse Walter) . First, we’ll observe Picasso’s use of perspective. Then, with oil pastels, geometric shapes, and googly eyes, we’ll create wacky self-portraits that capture every side of ourselves. Meet in Art School on the Museum’s Lower Level. ABOUT OPEN STUDIO Let your creativity run wild at Open Studio! Drop in to explore modern and contemporary art through interactive hands-on activities inspired by the Hirshhorn collection and artworks on view. Open Studio helps you transform your ideas into reality. Every session introduces a new theme and a fresh perspective on art-making. Activities are designed to captivate everyone—from budding young artists to seasoned creators—and allow them to craft, create, and learn. No reservations or tickets are required. Stroller parking is available in the Hirshhorn Lobby and on the Lower Level.
