Painting Diwali Diyas
About
Diyas [De-ah] are a form of clay lanterns used across India, not only to light our religious alters but to light our homes and public spaces during Diwali- the Festival of Lights. These lights are an indication of good prevailing over evil and a period of peace coming. Workshop participants will be given a short history lesson on what Diwali is, the story behind it, and how it is celebrated across the Indian diaspora (in India and around the world). After, participants will be guided on the different ways they can paint their Diyas and shown how they can light them at home. Space is limited and registration is required!
