Comments, concerns, and questions raised at this meeting will become part of the public record and will help inform the code update as it moves forward in the review process. There are continued opportunities throughout the approval process to publicly comment on the proposed Municipal Code update. Project Description: File No. PP26-003 – Zoning Code Maintenance Update The proposed Title 13 (Sidewalks, Streets, and Public Places) update includes: Unsuitable Tree Removal. This update proposes to streamline the removal of qualifying trees within the High and Very High Fire Severity Zones located within the 5 to 100 feet distance from the primary structure and requires at least a 10-foot canopy separation in accordance with California Public Resources Code (PRC) 4291. PRC 4291 is a state law which applies to State Responsibility Areas (SRA) and Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ). The state law requires property owners in high-fire-risk areas to maintain defensible space around structures by reducing flammable vegetation, clearing dead growth, keeping roofs clear of debris, and establishing a 5-foot ember-resistant zone around the
