Make & Decorate Sugar Skulls
About
Get ready for Día de los Muertos by making a sugar skull! In this multi-session program , participants will learn to make and then decorate sugar skulls using traditional and modern materials. In the first session, using a special sugar mixture and premade molds, we'll create the parts needed for a sugar skull. In the next session, after the sugar skulls have cured, we'll connect the sugar skull pieces and decorate them with colored frosting, foil, sequins, and more! Once decorated, the sugar skulls will be ready to display on your home altar or our community ofrenda. Please note: creating sugar skulls is a multi-day process. Participants will not be able to finish their skulls in one session and should plan to return for the second session to decorate skulls. Session 1: Sunday, October 25, 11:00am - 12:30pm Session 2: Sunday, November 1, 11:00am - 1230pm This program will take place before the library opens to the public, participants will enter our community room through the doors adjacent to the parking lot. ADA Accommodation Requests -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ¡Haz & decora tu propia Calaverita de Azúcar! ¡Ven a celebrar el Día de los Muertos creando una calaverita de azúcar muy especial! En este divertido programa de varias sesiones , aprenderás a hacer y decorar calaveritas usando materiales tradicionales y modernos. En la primera sesión, usaremos una mezcla especial de azúcar y moldes para formar las piezas de la calaverita. En la siguiente sesión, cuando ya estén listas y duritas, uniremos las piezas y las decoraremos con papel de colores, lentejuelas, pintura y mucho más. Al final, podrás llevarte tu calaverita para ponerla en tu altar en casa o en la ofrenda de la comunidad. Importante: Las calaveritas necesitan varios días para estar listas, así que no podrás terminar todo en una sola sesión. ¡Planea regresar a las siguientes para decorarlas!
