Email Hirshhornexperience@si.edu Hirshhorn Insiders, email HMSGdevelopment@si.edu As the Hirshhorn anticipates celebrating its newly revitalized Sculpture Garden’s opening at the end of October, the 21st Century Consort will mark this significant moment with a musical exploration of gardens and the life that unfolds within them. An Unsecret Garden invites audiences into a sonic experience where nature, art, memory, and imagination intertwine. Among the nature-inspired music presented in this program will be Arnold Schoenberg’s The Book of the Hanging Gardens , and Helen Grimes’s Aviary Sketches , inspired by Joseph Cornell’s Untitled: Aviary with Yellow Birds , currently on view in Revolutions: Art from the Hirshhorn Collection, 1860–1960 . Stay after the performance for a discussion with Consort director Christopher Kendall and performing musicians as they explore the themes in music presented.
