Leesburg's First Annual Pumpkin Smash
About
Pumpkin Smash Don't Trash It! Smash It! Join the Environmental Advisory Commission the day after Halloween for Leesburg’s first-ever Pumpkin Smash! Bring your carved pumpkins to Tuscarora Creek Park and give them one last hurrah before we send them off to be composted. Why a Pumpkin Smash? Every year, more than 1 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in U.S. landfills after Halloween. Instead of sending your pumpkin to the trash, we’re giving it a second life as compost. Enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including: Sustainable ornament making with tree cookies Loudoun Wildlife sharing tips about Leave the Leaves Virginia Cooperative Extension with pumpkin tips, recipes, and a pumpkin seed trail mix activity (first come, first served) Sweet treats from local vendors —vendors will be announced as they confirm! Visit Leesburgva.gov/Smash for the most up to date information! Can’t Make It November 1? You can still keep your pumpkin out of the landfill! Bring your unpainted pumpkins to the designated drop-off at Tuscarora Creek Park through Sunday, November 8.
