Horror of the 1900s: Nosferatu (1922)
About
Hyde Park Branch is hosting a film series showcasing horror movies from various decades of the 1900s on Friday afternoons in October. The showings will start promptly at 2 pm, and popcorn and refreshments will be provided. The film on October 2 will be Nosferatu (1922). An unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu is the quintessential silent vampire film, crafted by legendary German director F. W. Murnau. Rather than depicting Dracula as a shape-shifting monster or debonair gentleman, Murnau's Graf Orlok (as portrayed by Max Schreck) is a nightmarish, spidery creature of bulbous head and taloned claws –– perhaps the most genuinely disturbing incarnation of vampirism yet envisioned. Schedule: October 2: Nosferatu (1922) October 9: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) October 16: Rosemary’s Baby (1968) (R) October 23: Friday the 13th (1980) (R) October 30: The Blair Witch Project (1999) (R) Accessibility Notice : We strive to make our events accessible.
