Monika Mayer: LINKED
About
Monika Mayer's new work draws on the rocky shoreline, where mussels and barnacles cling together at low tide, bound to survive. Using repurposed materials like inner tubes and soccer balls, Mayer builds organism-like clusters through layering and accumulation. Her paintings echo this through layered coffee, paint, and ink. By presenting familiar objects in unfamiliar ways, Mayer invites viewers to pause and consider what lies beneath the surface.
