We’re kicking things off with a screening of Spike Lee’s 1988 musical‑comedy School Daze, a classic that explores campus life, identity, and culture, and famously features a performance of Da Butt by E.U. After the film, E.U. takes the stage for a live concert that brings the rhythm, the nostalgia, and the unmistakable sound of the District. We’re encouraging attendees to rep their school spirit, whether it’s your high school or college. This event connects directly to our exhibit District Vibes | American Pride , which highlights how local creativity has shaped American culture and showcases the powerful influence of D.C.’s neighborhoods, communities, and artists. Join us for an evening that blends film, music, and hometown pride, and celebrates the ways the District continues to inspire the nation. About School Daze Spike Lee's 1988 musical-comedy drama School Daze follows undergraduate students at the fictional historically Black Mission College during a chaotic Homecoming weekend. The story centers on campus divisions, political activism, fraternity hazing, and intense social friction regarding colorism and classism within the African-American community. About E.U. E.U., fronted by Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliott is most well known for their hit, Da' Butt which was featured in the Spike Lee film School Daze and Buck Wild which was co-written and co-produced by William "Ju Ju" House and the late Kent Wood.
