About
Join us for a conversation about Art as Social Justice as we celebrate the many ways art contributes to community building and social change across the Brandeis community, the Segal Citizen Leadership Program, and beyond. Hear from Heller MPP Student and Segal Program Grad Student Administrator Mehraveh Bastamkhani about her passion for and research around art-based social justice, as well as how she's used urban photography in her home country of Iran to document collective experiences and everyday forms of resistance. See and hear examples of how and why Segal Fellows and Brandeis community members are leveraging art for change, including a discussion panel facilitated by Segal Fellow and IERE Research Communications Director Sylvia Stewart with: Mehraveh Bastamkhani: MPP Student & Photographer Dr. Toni Shapiro-Phim, PhD: Chair of CAST, Director of The Program in Peacebuilding and the Arts, and Assistant Director of Global Community Engagement at COMPACT Jenn Recinos (Segal Fellow, Brandeis '14): Photographer & Community Advocate Anita Yip (AmeriCorps Alums Segal Fellow) Community Art Organizer & Community Leader The conversation will conclude with time for audience questions and discussion.
