
Dementia Friends: Recognizing the Signs of Dementia and Communicating with Loved Ones

This hour-long presentation helps our audience recognize the signs of dementia and provides tips on the ways to communicate with a loved one who has dementia. It is part of Montgomery County's Dementia Friendly initiative, which aims to make our community "dementia friendly", meaning all members of society are welcoming and understanding of what dementia is, what it looks like, and how to interact and keep those with dementia continued valued members of society. The presentation is provided by volunteers from the Aging and Disability Services, Area Agency on Aging, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. Objectives of this presentation: Learn about Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. Recognize the signs of dementia. Discover tips for communicating and interacting with a person who has dementia.
