Protect Little Falls Stream Valley and Save the Trees Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Jesse for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday in Little Falls Stream Valley Park. We will focus on non-native, invasive vines, especially chocolate Vine/5-Leaf Akebia ( Akebia quinata ), English ivy ( Hedera helix ) and Oriental bittersweet. Native Virginia creeper and poison ivy are also present and beneficial, so we will avoid those. We will meet at the parking lot next to Wagshals (6124 MacArthur Blvd). We will walk together to the Little Falls Park/ Sangamore Rd intersection . We will work along the Little Falls Stream Valley Trail path . Please note: MacArthur Blvd is a busy street, so wait for the crosswalk light at the intersection. If parking is full at Wagshals and the street, additional parking is here . Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gardening-type gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday. This event is capped at 10 people. This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours.
