Teen STEM - Engineering a Toothpick Tower

Join us for a hands-on STEM adventure where creativity meets engineering! Participants will be tasked to design and build the tallest and strongest towers they can using only toothpicks and marshmallows. Along the way, young engineers will explore basic principles of structural design, problem-solving, and teamwork. This fun, interactive program encourages curiosity, experimentation, and resilience as builders test their towers, make improvements, and learn how real engineers tackle challenges. All materials are provided, and no experience is necessary—just bring your imagination and get ready to build! This program is exclusively for middle school and high school aged students. The Maryland STEM Festival is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics designed to advance STEM and STEAM education for children and teens that takes place every fall.
