Magic Show at Fat Ram’s

About

Boston-based magical artist Joe Ledoux will present the Art & Magic Show on Saturday, November 7, at Pumpkin Tattoo in Jamaica Plain, featuring an exhibition of his original cartoon character Muhachi, a live magic performance, and free Muhachi temporary tattoos. The event begins at 7 p.m. or art viewing, with the magic show starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free. The exhibition centers on Muhachi, a character Ledoux says was born from a childhood gift: a soapstone bear carving given to him by his mother. He named the figure Muhachi and gradually developed it into a cartoon character that has accompanied him through years of drawings and comics. The character serves as a visual expression of everyday thoughts and feelings, with the hope of creating a cartoon character that is true to life. Ledoux’s artistic practice extends beyond illustration. He studied at the McBride Magic & Mystery School in Las Vegas and performed with Le Grand David, the legendary theatrical magic company recognized for its exceptionally long-running show. He had performed at work has the Institute of Contemporary Art and several galleries. He as exhibited at the West End Museum was a Polly Thayer Starr artist at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. With Art & Magic Show, Ledoux invites audiences to experience an exhibition not simply as a display of finished artwork, but as a meeting place for visual storytelling, live performance, and wonder. The event takes place at Pumpkin Tattoo in Jamaica Plain. The exhibition opens at 7 p.m., followed by the magic show at 8 p.m. Free Muhachi temporary tattoos will also be available.
