Household Hazardous Drop-Off Event

The San Mateo County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program and the City of East Palo Alto are hosting a drop-off event in East Palo Alto on Saturday, September 26, 2026, 8:30am-12:00pm. Accepted items include but are not limited to cleaners, pesticides, garden chemicals, propane cylinders/tanks, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), solvents, aerosol cans, paint, varnish, thinner, automotive and boating supplies, and flammable liquids. If the product label states “caution,” “warning,” “danger,” or “poison,” it’s hazardous. No electronic, radioactive, explosive, or commercial waste accepted. This event is open to all who live in San Mateo County. You must schedule an appointment at smchealth.org/hhw-appt or by calling (650) 372-6200. Event location is disclosed once your appointment is confirmed. Limit 10 gallons or 50 pounds per appointment (per carload).
