Halloween Hike on Devil Mountain

Sunday, October 25 · 3 PM – 6 PM · Mount Diablo State Park, 96 Mitchell Canyon Road, Clayton, CA 94517

About

Join California State Parks and Greenbelt Alliance interpreters for a spirited pre-Halloween walk in Mount Diablo State Park! On this family-friendly walk, we'll stroll up Mitchell Canyon in search of witches' broom, devil's horns, ghost pines, and other scary and not-so-scary signs of the season. But first, we'll meet the famous 8-legged diva, Scarlett O'Harry (a tarantula) and her sidekick, Wishbone (also a tarantula), examine the skins and skulls of some of our native Bay Area fauna, and hear the tale of Bully Ingram, a pirate who jumped ship and took up residence in a cave near Mitchell Canyon! Reservations Required. To reserve a place email mtdiablohiker@gmail.com This is an easy hike of about 2-miles round trip with a hundred feet in elevation gain. Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. There is a $6 per vehicle park entrance fee ($5 for seniors). Exact cash required; pay at the entrance gate. You may also pay digitally by scanning the QR code on the sign near the entrance gate or Visitor Center. No app is required. Registration required.
