Chabot’s Annual Drag Show is BACK! Set your phasers to STUNNING and get ready for a night of salacious science, galactic gags, and queer joy. Host VERA! and a cast of kings, queens, and space royals will be serving up charisma & chemistry under starry skies in our state-of-the-art 70-foot Planetarium dome. Come party with us! Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. VERA! returns to host the third annual Science is a Drag! VERA! is a Season 2 King of Drag contestant, Armenian trans and nonbinary activist, co-host of Pattie Gonia’s “SAVE HER!” national tour, co-host of the Rebel Kings of Oakland—the West Coast’s longest-running drag king troupe—father of the House of Pack, and sainted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as Saint Rebellious. Jota Mercury is an award-winning drag king who challenges machismo with humor and titties. He is Latiné and Indigenous, born in Fresno, California but entertaining crowds in the greater bay area since 2016.He’s lucky enough to be one of the co-hosts of Rebel Kings of Oakland, the longest running drag king show on the West Coast. Aside from RKO at the White Horse Bar, you can often find him at venues in San Francisco like The Stud, Oasis, and more. Sally Limón is the East Bay’s Saltiest, Sourest, and Shortest Chicana Diva! She brings the audience to the stunning intersection of camp, glamour and more camp! She is an up and coming hostess, actress, singer, and wig stylist but she does drag because of her love of the LGBTQIA+ community. Remember to always Live, Laugh, and Limón! Ryder Die (she/they/he) is Oakland’s himbo cowboy from hell. A triple-threat, Ryder is an actor-dancer-singer both in & out of drag. Formerly the Lead Public Programs Developer at Chabot Space and Science Center, Ryder created Science is a Drag! in an effort to create a permanent place for queer joy & self-expression at the Center. 3 years later, they are thrilled to be returning to the program as a performer! He’d like to thank her dad VERA! and brother Helixir for all of their love & support. Helixir is the winner of the 2022 San Francisco Drag King Contest and a proud member of the Rebel Kings of Oakland. This black, queer, trans non-binary, drag king is your local emo softboi and the dapper daddy of your dreams!
