Thursday, October 8 · 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM · Concourse, Oprah Winfrey Theater, African American History and Culture Museum · Washington

About

Join us for a conversation with artists featured in Revelation: A Journey into Abstraction , an exhibition that explores the creativity and impact of abstract art by African American artists from the mid‑twentieth century to today. Artists Adger Cowans, Shinique Smith, and Hank Willis Thomas will join Tuliza Fleming, PhD, Supervisory Curator of American Art at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, to discuss how abstract art has served as a space for experimentation, personal expression, and cultural reflection. Revelation: A Journey into Abstraction will be open for viewing on Level 4 prior to the program and light refreshments will be available. Museum doors open at 6:15 PM. The exhibition’s companion publication will be available for purchase courtesy of Smithsonian Enterprises. Accessibility Information To support full participation, we welcome attendees to share any accessibility or accommodation needs. Assistive listening devices are available upon request for all public programs. Please email your request to NMAAHCPubPgms@si.edu as early as possible. While we will attempt to honor all requests, we kindly ask for at least two weeks’ notice to ensure adequate preparation.
