Join this fall for a three-part book discussion series exploring love, ambition, and social expectations through classic literature. This limited-run series invites readers to examine how relationships and class shape personal choices. We’ll meet monthly from August through November on the third Wednesday of the month for welcoming and engaging conversations. Books will be provided . Attendance at each discussion meeting is required in order to receive the next book in the series. Join us for our discussion of Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South . Together we’ll explore the novel’s themes of class, industry, social conflict, and the evolving relationship between Margaret Hale and John Thornton. During this meeting, participants will receive the third and final book of the series, Edith Wharton’s The House of Mirth . Set in New York’s glittering high society, the novel follows Lily Bart as she struggles to balance personal independence, love, and the pressures of wealth and status. Wharton’s sharp portrayal of ambition and social expectations remains both elegant and deeply moving. The book club will meet at: North Meadow Picnic Tables at Holbrook Palmer Park.
