About

The Department of Resident Life and Stamp's Multicultural Involvement and Community Advocacy (MICA) are teaming up for a Restorative Service Day at the Baltimore American Indian Center's 50th Annual Pow-Wow! We will arrive early on Saturday, November 21st, to help the Center set up and prepare the grounds for the Pow-Wow, thus also earning a free entry to a day filled with cultural celebrations, amazing vendors, traditional dances, drumming, and great food! Round-trip transportation from campus will be provided; registration is required, spots are limited. Pow-Wow is a Native gathering, where those from various tribal backgrounds can celebrate their culture, life, and each other’s company. It is an exciting time that often includes dancing, drumming, food, contests, and other activities. Pow-Wows serve as a way to keep traditions alive and educate the future generations, while also sharing Native culture with others. All attendees must be respectful and follow the rules, but everyone is welcome! MICA Adventures encourages the UMD community to go beyond College Park and explore the DC, greater Maryland, and Virginia area. Join us throughout the year as we travel to DMV area cultural events, museums, exhibitions, and more! Our goal is always to minimize or eliminate financial and transportation barriers to being in community.
