This workshop dives into the full range of what fountain pen inks can do once water enters the picture. We will explore different types of inks such as waterproof vs. non-waterproof and dye-based vs. pigment and see how each one behaves under a wash. The instructor will bring a selection of particularly fun inks to test-some that stay exactly where you put them, others that bloom, shift, or completely dissolve into the wash-so you can experience the differences firsthand. You will learn not just what happens, but why it matters: which inks hold their line, which ones move, and how lightfastness affects whether your work lives in a sketchbook, remains a study, or holds up when displayed or exhibited. Through a sequence of tests and applied studies, you will begin to choose materials intentionally-using ink not just as a tool, but as part of the expression.
