Reading to Write: How to Read in Graduate School

Wednesday, November 11 · 10 AM – 10:50 AM · Brandeis University events · Waltham

About

Far from being separate tasks, reading is actually the first step in academic writing. This graduate workshop focuses on reading as an act of composition: it offers practical strategies for critically and intentionally reading academic texts to pave the way to effective writing. Attendees will learn how to read and annotate critically, as well as how to tailor their reading approach to the type of writing they will do. We will also discuss how reading and writing across different genres (e.g., book reviews, journal articles, theses/dissertations, etc.) offer varying entry points into the scholarly conversation. This workshop will be held in hybrid modality (both in person and Zoom). This event is best for graduate students.
