Oaks, Acorns, and Friends
About
VARIOUS PARKS: Enjoy the seasonal treats of Sep-timber and Oak-tober as we investigate Oak Woodlands with our Human and Sylvan Companions. This is a short series of hikes to celebrate Fall and the fruiting of Oaks. They provide shady shelter -- home to birds and butterflies, mosses and lichens. Their leaves invigorate the soil, their acorns feed many. Together we will explore the diverse niches of this rich community. All of these outings pass along trails with very steep and uneven sections, so good, grippy footwear is a must. Check the details of our adventures to see which locations suit you best, and feel free to come on just one or on all of the outings. The more we explore, the more we learn. Bring binoculars and a hand lens if you have them available. We will have some to pass out as needed. Please also keep food, water and comfort in mind. Hats and/or sunscreen are recommended. See www.ebparks.org/parks for maps and directions. Drop-in; no registration required. For information, call 510-544-3187.
