About

Imagine that you, like heroine Emma Connors, stumble upon a secret pirate colony hidden beyond the San Francisco Bay. You discover the wonders of pirate culture–along with some gold. What would you do? Join 826 Valencia for a two-hour workshop with author Shannon Mulholland where we will read an excerpt from her upcoming book, Finding Sea Legs , and write a scene that answers that exact question. Students will imagine themselves in the position of the book’s main character, Emma, and wrestle with the central moral dilemma of the book. By the end of the session, students will have a complete scene from their point of view that uses action and dialogue. This a one-day workshop occurring on September 20th 12pm – 2pm. To express interest in this workshop fill out this form . After registering, staff will reach out to offer a spot depending on eligibility and availability in the program. Our workshops are open to anyone, but we do give priority to SFUSD students with socio-economic need and hold spaces for students enrolled in our other programs.
