Sounds of South Asia Musical Performance

Saturday, November 14 · 12 PM – 1 PM · Almaden, Program Room, San Jose

About

As a kickoff to the 'Sounds of South Asia' exhibit, children from the Path of Raga school, based in Fremont will be coming to perform two brief performances on the sitar and sarod, two core stringed instruments of North Indian classical music that is learned and taught across South Asia and in the South Asian diaspora. If you are new to South Asian music or if you are familiar, join us to celebrate South Asian culture by hearing some instruments performed live and then see the new exhibit of 'Sounds of South Asia' that just opened at the library. Come and explore the exhibit by using the QR code to listen to the sounds of the instruments displayed in the exhibit. Come to learn more about Indian culture in and amongst us: about the school Path of Raga, about the stringed instruments, sitar and sarod, about learning a South Asian instrument, about different instruments in South Asia and their sounds. Program is for children 5 and up and family members interested in South Asian music. ADA Accommodation Requests
