Music@Noon – Kaley Lane Eaton's The Plectrum Five

Wednesday, October 14 · 12 PM – 1 PM · Music Recital Hall · Santa Clara

About

Part new music ensemble, part American roots string band, and part historical music excavators, the conservatory punks of Kaley Lane Eaton's Plectrum Five combine the improvisatory timbral explorations of their urban experimental orientation with the Rocky Mountain folk twang of their collective family trees. Joined by Los Angeles-based harp and cello duo Strange Interlude, this string supergroup presents Eaton's acoustic chamber folk song cycle Maverick Granddaughter. An original epic poem intertwined with old frontier songs arranged for this unique ensemble tells the story of Eaton's maternal line: seven generations of only daughters from Boulder, Montana, and their profound relationship with the land. Featuring:Kaley Lane Eaton's Plectrum Five (Kaley Lane Eaton, composer, vocals, banjo; Tom Baker, resonator guitar; Jon Butler, bass and background vocals; Kayce Guthmiller, viola/fiddle and background vocals; Mariah Larsen, cello; Rian Souleles, Greek bouzouki) and Strange Interlud
