Preserving the Fall Apple Harvest

Tuesday, October 6 · 5:30 PM – 7 PM · 175 Electioneer Road, Stanford, CA · Palo Alto

About

Apples are one of the quintessential flavors of fall. Join us for this hands-on workshop at the O'Donohue Family Stanford Educational Farm, where you will explore ways to capture, enhance, and preserve the season's harvest. We will start with a tasting of several apple varieties, sharpening your palate so you can tell which apples are best suited to eating fresh, baking, or cooking down into sauce. From there, you will learn the key concepts behind safe, effective preservation and go through a handful of easy recipes for stretching your harvest through the winter months. Finally, we will work together to make a batch of apple pie filling using tested, food-safe canning methods. Everyone will leave with a jar to bake into a pie or crumble for the holidays. Come ready to taste, chop, and stir your way through a practical, rewarding evening on the farm. This is an in-person class and will not be recorded. Attendance at the live session is required to receive incentive points. Reques
