Mákkin Mak Wárep: Muwekma Ohlone Tapestries, In Conversation

Saturday, November 7 · 11 AM – 1 PM · Castro Valley Library, Chabot Room, Castro Valley

About

In honor of Native American Heritage Month, join us for a conversation with artist Kalie Granier, Gloria E. Arellano-Gómez, and Monica V. Arellano, Ohlone Culture Bearers and Language Keepers, as we explore Mákkin Mak Wárep. This interdisciplinary art project reconnects Muwekma Ohlone descendants with the ancestral lands of their people. Two tapestries, created using pigments made from lichens harvested on the Djerassi lands, will remain on display following the conversation on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8. Through the month of November, a lobby display will show materials and photographs documenting the creative process.
