Mákkin Mak Wárep: Muwekma Ohlone Tapestries
About
In honor of Native American Heritage Month, the Castro Valley Library's Chabot Room will host a viewing of two tapestries created by artist Kalie Granier and descendants of the Muwekma Ohlone, Monica V. Arellano and Gloria E. Arellano-Gómez. This interdisciplinary art project reconnects the Muwekma Ohlone to the land of their ancestors, using pigments from lichens harvested on the Djerassi lands. Registration is not required for this drop-in viewing. Through the month of November, a lobby display will show materials and photographs documenting the creative process.
