The Ember List

Introduction to Enameling

Wednesday, September 23 – Wednesday, September 30 · SHARON ART STUDIO · San Francisco

About

Discover the ancient and luminous art of kiln-fired enamel in this beginner-friendly introduction to vitreous enamel on copper. Students will design and create original pendants, earrings, or small objects using powdered glass enamel fired in a kiln, building layer by layer to achieve rich, jewel-like color. No prior metalsmithing experience is required. Pre-cut copper shapes are provided for beginners, while students with hand sawing experience are welcome to cut their own custom forms. Cold connection techniques are incorporated throughout, allowing students to assemble finished enamel pieces into wearable jewelry without soldering. Tools and materials available. The Jewelry Studio is located on the upper floor, with stair access only. For accommodations requests or accessibility questions, please contact rpdaccess@sfgov.org or 415-831-6841. Please note that submitting your request at least two weeks before the beginning of the class will help ensure availability.
