Foster City Compost Giveaway

RethinkWaste and Recology San Mateo County are teaming up with the City of Foster City to give residents FREE compost. The compost is made from yard trimmings and food scraps collected through the CartSMART organics collection program at a nearby composting facility. The compost is ideally used as an amendment to enrich soil for lawns, gardens, ornamental plants, trees, and potted plants. By applying compost to landscaping and mixing it with soil, people put organic resources into the soil, providing a non-chemical alternative to fertilizers. Residents may take up to 1 cubic yard of compost (about 6 garbage cans) . Residents should bring shovels, gloves, and containers. Proof of residency will be required. Please note that the event will only be available until the time listed or while supplies last.
