High School Holdovers: How College Writing is Different

This workshop focuses on common misconceptions about writing that students often “hold over” from high school. We will discuss the "rules of writing" frequently taught in high school and why they are less helpful at the college level. Students will learn to identify the specific elements that make college writing different, such as length/complexity, structure, citation practices, and more. Best for: first years undergraduates, FYS/CSEM students
