Nigerian Authors Book Club
About
Children ages 8 and older, along with their families, are invited to join the Nigerian Authors Book Club for Children! Each month, we read and discuss a book written by an author from Nigeria or the African diaspora. Our book for October will be Ikenga by acclaimed author Nnedi Okorafor . Taking inspiration from Igbo mythology, this novel follows Nnamdi, a young boy living in the Nigerian town of Kaleria. There are many dangerous criminals in Kaleria, but they meet their match after Nnamdi gains superhuman powers from a small Ikenga figurine. We will read chapters 1-11 for October, and finish the book in November. This event will be held virtually on Zoom. For access to the Zoom room, please email Ritse Adefolalu at: oadefolalu@bpl.org For more information about the book club, please contact Bolade Owolewa at (617) 480-1266. Accessibility Notice : We strive to make our events accessible. To request a disability accommodation and/or language services, contact the department listed in the "Contact Info" pane on the right.
