Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Boston Lyric Opera are thrilled to welcome tenor Michael Fabiano to lead a masterclass with local students and rising artists from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, New England Conservatory, Boston University, Longy School of Music, Boston Singers’ Resource, and Boston Lyric Opera’s Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artists as part of the Opera Innovators Series. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Michael Fabiano studied at the University of Michigan and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He received both the 2014 Beverly Sills Artist Award and the 2014 Richard Tucker Award, the first singer to receive both honors in the same year. Major roles include Don José, Carmen, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence; Poliuto, Poliuto, Glyndebourne Festival; and his acclaimed debut as Calaf in Turandot in Rome, directed by Ai Weiwei. He has appeared on the world’s leading stages, including The Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Berlin Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Opéra de Paris. Recent engagements include Calaf, Turandot ; Des Grieux, Manon ; Pinkerton, Madama Butterfly ; Don José, Carmen ; Rodolfo, Luisa Miller ; and Riccardo, Un ballo in maschera . In 2026, he made major role debuts as Otello and in La Gioconda .
