Meditative Stitching

Tuesday, October 20 · 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM · Druker Auditorium · Newton

About

This workshop introduces slow, meditative stitching inspired by Japanese boro and Indian kantha techniques. Through basic embroidery stitches, participants will explore fabrics, colors, and patterns, and can use the techniques to create a displayable fabric collage or embellish a bag, jeans, or another clothing item. No previous sewing experience needed. Materials, including a needle, threads, and assorted fabrics, will be provided. About the instructor: Ann Bausman has taught at many local libraries, Arlington Community Education, and area art centers. A former board member of the Arlington Center for the Arts, she is passionate about textiles and upcycling clothing, linens, and other fabrics, and enjoys sharing the calming practice of stitching with others. Registration is required for this program. Please note that crafting programs at the Library are popular and often have a waitlist.
