About

Author Susan Metallo is visiting us all the way from Virginia to celebrate the launch of her newest YA book, Hearts on the Table! Join us at the Civic Center Library to hear more about her writing journey and this twisty transformation of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Susan Metallo is a young adult author and librarian. Her debut novel, Reasons to Hate Me, was one of Publishers Weekly’s Best YA Books of the Year, a Children’s Book Council “Teacher Favorite,” a “Rise: a Feminist Book Project” selection (ALA Feminist Taskforce and Social Justice Roundtable), an American Booksellers Association Indie Next Kids title and Indies Introduce Kids selection, and a finalist for the Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association’s “Reading the West Award” and the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association’s “Mountain Laurel Book Award.” In addition to these accolades, Susan’s work has received starred reviews from multiple trade journals including School Library Journal, Kirkus, The Horn Book, and Publishers Weekly. A graduate of the College of William and Mary, Susan is living her best nerd life, and when she’s not writing a book (or reading someone else’s) you might find her doing a crossword puzzle or singing the soprano line of a Baroque fugue. She lives in Virginia with family. Find her online at susanmetallo.com. Both of her books will be available for purchase at the event from Towne Center Books. Teens (ages 12-18) are invited to attend a creative writing workshop, led
