Join us for a panel conversation and reception celebrating The Four (Revisited), the first in The de Saisset Exhibition Histories series excavating and re-staging significant projects that took place at the museum during the early 1970s, under the visionary leadership of de Saisset Director Lydia Modi-Vitale. The original 1973 exhibition The Four featured formative projects by Judy Chicago, Lynda Benglis, Miriam Schapiro, and Bonnie Sherk. Through original artworks and archival materials The Four (Revisited) invites visitors to experience and reflect on the breakthrough and boundary-pushing works presented in 1973 that challenged museological norms and expanded the limits of the institution. The accompanying panel explores the works and contributions of these extraordinary artists, discussing not only what feminist art meant and looked like in the 1970s amidst second wave feminism, but also drawing comparisons and throughlines to today
