About

Create your own tunnel book at this craft program for adults. Tunnel books or peepshows, are a type of pop up book that create the illusion of depth with layers. Make one for yourself or as a fun spooky season gift. Some suggestions for haunted tunnel books are: A haunted house A mad scientist's lab A doomed summer camp We will have frames and clip art available to mix and match. If you have something specific in mind, you may want to bring your own. Popular during the Victorian Era in England and elsewhere, tunnel books remain an expressive and accessible form of pop-up book art. They're great for imagining creative scenes, or for adapting favorite moments from folk tales and pop culture. For more history about peepshows/ tunnel books, check out this article from The Smithsonian. Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded. We will always respect your requests. An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or closed captioning can be provided for this program if requested at least seven (7) business days in advance.
