About

Native Boogie & Beats is a dynamic Indigenous cultural presentation that brings the energy, beauty, and traditions of the Pow Wow to communities throughout the Bay Area. Through vibrant dance, music, storytelling, and cultural education, Native Boogie & Beats invites audiences of all ages to experience and learn about contemporary Native American culture directly from Native community members. The presentation explores the cultural significance of Pow Wows, Native dance styles, regalia, songs, and the values of community, family, identity, and intergenerational connection that bring people together. Dancers share the meaning and traditions behind their dances while demonstrating the movement, rhythm, and artistry that make Pow Wow culture such a powerful expression of Indigenous identity. Native Boogie & Beats also highlights the continuing evolution of Native culture and the importance of keeping traditions alive for future generations. The program creates an engaging space where children, families, and community members can learn, ask questions, celebrate Indigenous cultures, and develop a deeper appreciation for the diversity and resilience of Native peoples.
