Celebrate Día de los Muertos with Chicago’s rousing next-generation mariachi ensemble! Mariachi Herencia de México has taken the Latin music world by storm since it was founded 10 years ago by César Maldonado, then a member of the Mariachi Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes mariachi education in Chicago public schools. The band fuses traditional repertoire with influences from other Mexican, Caribbean, and Central and South American genres such as salsa , bolero , bossa nova , son jarocho , huapango , and cumbia —held together with deep emotion and bold storytelling.
