Learn more about where Entertainment and Social Change intersect From the jazz and swing of New York’s Tin Pan Alley to the sound of Motown to the folk revival led Bob Dylan and others, this multimedia presentation traces how popular music evolved alongside a changing America. Spanning the 1930s to the 1970s, songs that entertained millions also gave voice to civil rights, racial equity, war and peace, domestic violence, and personal identity. These recordings topped charts while capturing the hopes, struggles, and conversations of their time. Through memorable stories, iconic recordings and rare film and television clips, we’ll look at how artists used music not only to reflect society but, at times, to shape it. Mike Agron , a popular Encore Learning instructor, is a storyteller with a lifelong passion for music who creates engaging multimedia experiences about the stories behind the songs and the cultural moments that shaped America.
