The Joy of 樂: Chinese Calligraphy & Creative Art on Wood

Saturday, October 17 · 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM · Castro Valley, Chabot/Canyon room, Castro Valley

About

Join Ms. Cynthia for a fun and creative Chinese calligraphy art workshop designed for kids! Children will learn to write 樂 (lè), meaning “joy” or “happiness,” in traditional Chinese Clerical Script (隸書), one stroke at a time. Then, they will decorate a natural wood slice with drawings of what makes them happy. It’s a playful way for kids to explore Chinese culture, practice calligraphy, and express their creativity! This program is for children ages 7-12 Library staff may take photos, videos, or audio recordings at our events. Please tell us if you do not wish to be photographed, video-recorded, or audio-recorded. We will always respect your requests! An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or closed captioning can be provided for this program if requested at least seven (7) days in advance. For assistance, please contact your library or accessibility@aclibrary.org .
