The Design of AI: Read + Learn + Craft

Join us to read local Bay Area author Annalee Newitz's book “ Automatic Noodle ” (2025) set in 2064 San Francisco as we kickoff our first event of the “ Crafting Our Future” series. In “ The Design of AI ,” we’ll explore themes from the novella and welcome Nina Rastogi, a writer and content designer who specializes in technology interfaces and experiences. Nina will guide us in thinking about how design shapes our interactions with AI tools and how we, in turn, can shape the tools of our future. Building on fiction and our experiences with today's technologies, we’ll spend time imaging what we want 2064 to look like for us and our communities. Participants will have the opportunity to craft their vision for the future with quilting, drawing, or writing materials. Individual contributions will be collected throughout the yearlong series and turned into a vibrant patchwork exhibit. Don't miss this chance to participate in creating a tangible representation of the future we envision and what technologies and tools should look like for our community in San José and beyond.
