MCAH SIG: Film Screening & Conversation: Deliver Us (10/27)

MCAH SIG is excited to host a screening of Deliver Us, an 80-minute feature documentary by filmmakers Jenny Kwandham & Randi Matthews. In the United States, Black mothers are dying in childbirth at staggering rates. In the midst of a national race reckoning, Black midwives around the country are fighting back; opening birth centers, navigating restrictive laws, and demanding justice for Black families inside a deeply inequitable healthcare system. The 80-minute film interweaves the journeys of four midwives from across the country as they battle systemic inequities, red tape, funding challenges, and more while delivering babies outside of the broken and deadly U.S. healthcare system. Following the film screening, we will engage in small group reflections guided by a series of questions. These are incredibly important conversations that we should be having, and we would love to learn from one another's perspectives. We look forward to seeing you there!
