Workshop: Introduction to Letterpress

Step outside the margins and rethink how type lives on the page. This experimental letterpress workshop invites participants to break from traditional grids and explore expressive, unconventional approaches to setting and printing with movable type.

Using finely-beaten, pigmented paper pulp, students will make imagery on freshly pulled sheets of handmade paper. Participants will learn introductory handmade paper techniques such as Western sheet formation, as well as surface design methods of pulp painting, stenciling, and inclusions.
