Beginner Jewelry & Independent Study

Monday, September 21 – Monday, November 9 · SHARON ART STUDIO · San Francisco

About

Start or renew your core skills in contemporary jewelry-making in our supportive and structured introduction to metalsmithing course. Students will create multiple pieces through the exploration of foundational jewelry fabrication techniques such as how to cut metal with the jewelers saw, sand, file, anneal, stamp/texture, form, solder, patina and polish. Intermediate jewelers choosing independent study will have instructor guidance as needed for creative decision making and to fabricate their designs. Class fee includes the use of tools, copper and brass, and materials for one silver introductory project. Please purchase your own silver for anything beyond that, which can be discussed during the first class. Jewelry making requires hand dexterity. The Jewelry Studio is located on the upper floor, with stair access only. For accommodations requests or accessibility questions, please contact rpdaccess@sfgov.org or 415-831-6841. Please note that submitting your request at least two weeks before the beginning of the class will help ensure availability.
